Unit 3 Reflection Assignment 2

Reflection Assignment 2

Q Introduction The point of the assignment is to get familiar with the P.A.R.T.S reading strategy. You may have already read something but go back and reread using the P.A.R.T.S strategy. Some of you are only taking this course. Use one of the articles you read for this unit or previous units. A couple of suggestions: • Pick an article from the Academic Habits of Mind page- there are four articles relating to Active Reading Strategies • Use the same article we used for the Believing Doubting Game • Use an article from Unit 2- 6 Habits of Highly Successful Students or the Growth Mindset vs. Fixed Mindset Instructions 1. List each of your classes and the reading assignments you have to complete for this week of class. 2. Which reading assignments are you most concerned about? 3. Review the P.A.R.T.S. Active Reading Strategy and use that strategy to complete one of your class readings. Think about: o What did you learn from the preview? o Take a photograph or screenshot of your annotations. o How did your reading relate to you? Your class? How did your reading relate to the world or your community? How could it relate? Why is it (or is it not) relevant? 4. Reflect: What did you learn from utilizing these techniques? What other strategies would you like to try? Which strategies would be most effective for a math/science course? What about a history/literature course? 5. Provide a summary of the reading in your own words. Your summary could be written (1-2 paragraphs) or can be a short video summary.
